Application process

Please read the application instructions completely prior to beginning the application process. Verify deadline and application requirements with the prospective program. Be sure to choose the application for the Biomedical Informatics Program in the online application system. 

Payment of non-refundable application fee is made when submitting online application.

Graduate certificate:

  1. Apply Online (It's important to make a note of the login/ID). Select the “Biomedical Infr: Certf online” application.
  2. Submit official transcripts from all colleges and/or universities that you have attended
  3. International students will need to submit WES ICAP evaluations (see Admission Requirements below)

MS-non-thesis / MS:

1. Apply Online (It's important to make a note of the login/ID)
2. Submit official transcripts from all colleges and/or universities that you have attended
3. International students will need to submit WES ICAP evaluations (see Admission Requirements below)
4. Submit three letters of recommendation, personal statement and CV/resume (2 page limit)

* For graduate certificate and master's program admissions, priority is given to applications that are complete by the application deadline. However, the programs reserve the right to review applications received after the deadline if space is available in the program track. 

PhD:

1. Apply Online
2. Submit official transcripts from all colleges and/or universities that you have attended
3. International students will need to submit WES ICAP evaluations (see Admission Requirements below)
4. Submit three letters of recommendation, personal statement and CV/resume (2 page limit)
5. Submit GRE and TOEFL (if applicable) test scores to OHSU

* Applications must be received by deadline to be considered for current admissions cycle.

Post-doctoral:

  1. Apply Now
  2. Select the application “Biomedical Infr: Post-Doc”
  3. Submit official transcripts from all colleges and/or universities that you have attended.
  4. Submit three letters of recommendation, personal statement and CV/resume (2 page limit)

Admission requirements

Graduate certificate

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Minimum TOEFL exam score of 250 (computer-based) for applicants whose primary language is not English

Master's and PhD

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Minimum TOEFL exam score of 250 (computer-based) for applicants whose primary language is not English

International Students

All international student applicants are required to provide World Education Service (WES) International Credential Advantage Package (ICAP) credential evaluations for all foreign colleges attended. International applicants need to consult WES website for instruction and fees at World Education Service. The application will be responsible for the full cost of this service. International applicants of all countries of origin will need to complete this service and no international applications will be reviewed without an accompanied WES ICAP evaluation.

If international applicants have already completed a similar credential evaluation through WES or another company, the Graduate Studies Office may evaluate on a case-by-case basis whether a WES ICAP will be needed.

  • Graduate Certificate application deadline is as follows:
    • Fall term - September 15
    • Winter term - December 15
    • Spring term - March 15
    • Summer term - May 15
       
  • Master’s degree program: Health and Clinical Informatics track major application deadline are as follows:
    • Fall term – August 15
    • Winter term – November 15
    • Spring term – February 15
       
  • Master's degree program for the Bioinformatics and Computational Biomedicine major is August 15 (Fall admission only)
     
  • PhD application (Health and Clinical Informatics and Bioinformatics and Computational Biology) deadline is December 1.
