Lucy Savitz, PhD, MBA
Lucy Savitz, Ph.D., M.B.A. is the Vice President for Health Research in the Kaiser Permanente Northwest Region and the Director of the Centers for Health Research for both Oregon and Hawaii. Dr. Savitz is a health services researcher who has led a wide-ranging career. She brings a unique mix of perspectives, having served as an Economist for the bipartisan Colorado Legislative Council, Financial Planner at UNC Health Care, faculty member at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC-CH), senior researcher/associate at two national research organizations, and most recently as Assistant Vice President for delivery system science at the Intermountain Healthcare Institute for Healthcare Delivery Research.
Karen B. Eden, PhD
Karen Beekman Eden, Ph.D, is professor in medical informatics and clinical epidemiology in the OHSU School of Medicine, and is a scientist focused on patient decision making. The focus of her research career has been in translating evidence to help patients make informed decisions about their own health. Dr. Eden has extensive experience in translating comparative effectiveness information into patient-friendly interactive decision aids that inform patients and prepare them for an informed discussion with a clinician. These decision aids span a broad range of clinical topics including breast cancer screening, childbirth decision making after cesarean and domestic violence safety planning. She and her team are currently creating an integration between Epic and a breast cancer risk and decision tool. She has most recently been funded to create a mobile app to help OHSU students, faculty and employees access resources to address racial discrimination, sexual harassment and misconduct.
