LHS K12 Leaders Series
The Northwest Learning Health Systems Center of Excellence and K12 is pleased to announce that Dr. Janet Porter, PhD will join the LHS Leaders Series on Wednesday, September 20th from 11:30am – 12:30pm EST (8:30 – 9:30am PST). The title of Dr. Porter’s talk is, What is Your Leadership Journey? This presentation will be followed by a discussion moderated by Dr. Rose Molina, a scholar in the Northwest LHS K12 Program.

Janet Porter has 45 years of experience as a hospital administrator, teacher, association executive, consultant, and public health leader. Janet served in leadership roles at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, University of North Carolina’s Gillings School of Global Public Health, Association of University Programs in Health Administration and Nationwide Children’s Hospital. In recognition of her outstanding leadership in public health, Janet received the Gaylord Anderson Award from University of Minnesota. She also received the Mershon Award from the Ohio State University for leadership. Janet was the founding co-author of the national column The Management Moment for the Journal of Public Health Management and Practice and co-authored the book Managing the Public Health Enterprise.
Janet’s board experience includes the Ohio State Board of Trustees, the Wexner Medical Center, AARP, the AARP National Policy Council, the World of Children, the Ohio State University Alumni Association, the Commission for Accreditation for Health Management Education (CAHME), the Just Health Collaborative, Mercy Health and the National Center for Healthcare Leadership. Janet has been on the faculty of the Schools of Public Health of Harvard University, University of Minnesota, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Ohio State University.
Janet has a BS and MHA from Ohio State University and an MBA and PhD in healthcare strategy from University of Minnesota. Janet lives in Hilton Head, SC with her husband Jim O’Sullivan.
