There are many times in life when it is helpful to talk with someone about your concerns. Mental health therapy gives you a supportive person unrelated to your personal situation, to assist you in achieving your personal goals, teach you new skills for your well-being, help you process your concerns and make healthy decisions. We provide treatment for the following concerns and more:
- Posttraumatic Stress Disorder
- Adjustment to life events such as divorce, job changes or stress, stress from moving, loss of loved ones and other concerns
- Bipolar and psychotic disorders
- Adjustment to chronic medical problems
At the Avel Gordly Center for Healing, three psychiatrists provide psychiatric evaluation and medication management. Clients receiving psychiatric services are also assigned a counselor to assist in their treatment. All of our psychiatrists also practice in the Faculty Practice in the Marquam Hill location of OHSU.
Afrocentric Treatment Services
Licensed African-American mental health practitioners are available to serve the mental health needs of the African and African-American communities in the Portland Metropolitan area. Collectively, our practitioners are trained in mental health, substance abuse, and psychiatry and are available to provide individual, couples, family and group counseling.
