Awhile after graduating, Mark worked for almost 5 years at a Bio-production company. From there he went to work for 15 years at the "other" university: University of Washington in the Department of Pathobiology. While there, the lab was, basically, looking at C. pneumoniae and its association with heart disease, primarily doing mouse model experiments. In the Sherman lab Mark is working on the gene expression mechanisms in the pancreatic tumor microenvironment. Mark's hobbies include mt. biking, camping, fishing and he just started up archery.

Sohinee was born and raised in Kolkata, India. She joined the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) in 2009 to pursue her Ph.D. in Pathology and Microbiology. For her Ph.D. thesis, she investigated the novel role of the endocytic recycling protein EHD1 in mouse early embryonic morphogenesis under the guidance of Dr. Hamid Band. After completing her Ph.D. from UNMC, she joined the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine as a postdoctoral fellow and under the guidance of Dr. Ora Weisz, investigated the cellular signaling pathways that regulate apical endocytosis in proximal tubule cells in response to fluid shear stress. While in the Sherman lab, Sohinee will utilize a multidisciplinary approach to understand the gene-regulatory interaction networks that exist between pancreatic tumor and stroma. In her free time, Sohinee enjoys reading, listening to music, fishing and cooking.

Jaime was born in Mexico and grew up in Conyers, Georgia. He joined the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) to pursue his Ph.D. in Cancer Research at the Eppley Institute for Cancer Research where he joined the laboratory of Dr. Pankaj Singh. For his thesis, Jaime studied metabolic reprogramming of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma cells caused by the acidic pH of the tumor microenvironment. While in the Sherman lab, Jaime's research will focus in studying cancer-associated fibroblast in order to understand how these stromal mechanisms promote carcinogenesis of pancreatic cancer. In his free time, Jaime enjoys exploring Portland, hiking with his dog, music shows, and running.

Chet was born and raised in Malaysia. She graduated from UCSD with a B.S. degree in Biochemistry and Cell Biology. She then received her M.S. degree in Biology from UCSD where she studied the role of ABL tyrosine kinase in triggering apoptosis through the intrinsic apoptotic pathway. In the Sherman lab, she studies the role of lipid metabolism in pancreatic cancer progression and provides general lab maintenance. Her new found hobbies in Portland are food tasting and acrylic painting.

Wes came to Oregon in 2011 from Indianapolis, IN. As an undergraduate at the University of Oregon, he studied Biology with an emphasis in Ecology and Evolution, and participated in microbial ecology research in the lab of Dr. Brendan Bohannan. During his research, he realized the increasing need for bioinformatic skills in order to answer most of today's biological questions. Wes completed an internship in the Computational Biology Department at OHSU as part of his master's program, and has become interested in leveraging emerging technologies such as T-Cell receptor sequencing and the CRISPR-Cas9 system to provide insight into cancer progression and therapy targets. Wes enjoys hiking and backpacking in the Cascades and elsewhere, reading sci-fi, fantasy, and non-fiction, and spending time with his Keeshond puppy, Huxley.

While attending Pacific University Erin interned at OHSU through the Murdock Scholar Program for two summers in the Anand Lab, where she investigated the affects of microRNAs on cancer. In her free time she enjoys reading, hiking, and hanging out with her dog Stitch.

Hannah completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Maryland, College Park; with a major in animal sciences. As an undergraduate, she worked as a research assistant at the Gudelskey Veterinary Center testing the efficacy of poultry infectious laryngotracheitis recombinant vaccinations. She also worked as an advanced research intern at Dow Electronic Materials, investigating the transport properties of Chemical Mechanical Planerization Pads. Following her graduation, she began a career with Sigmovir Biosystems as a laboratory operations manager and completed her Masters of Science degree at the Johns Hopkins University in Biotechnology with a focus on epidemiology and assay design. After three years in industry, she decided to further her career with a Ph.D. at Oregon Health & Sciences University. In her free time she enjoys hiking, camping, and travel of any type.

Cam has strong interest in cancer biology and tumor immunology. She worked in a T cell immunotherapy laboratory under Dr. Stephen Forman where she carried out research on the development of chimeric-antigen receptor (CAR)-engineered T cell immunotherapy for the treatment of advanced solid cancers along with work on a combination immunotherapy of CAR T cells with Oncolytic virus. In the Sherman Lab, Cam is studying changes in gene-regulatory networks that arise when a pancreatic tumor interacts with the stroma. In her free time, Cam likes to compose music, ride her bike around Portland, and go rock climbing.
Leann's duties in the Sherman lab include providing general administrative support, purchasing, scheduling meetings, travel planning, and budget assistance. In her free time, she enjoys photography, handcrafts, repurposing old things, and the outdoors.
