Flow CytometrySpecimen Requirements:
3 mL blood in a LAVENDER top (EDTA) tube. Keep at room temperature. Room temperature samples are good for up to 24 hours.
Results from a concurrent WBC with Differential must be received, or it will be added and charged to viable specimens.

Reference Range:
Lymphocyte Quantitation with CD4/CD8 Ratio Reference Ranges (Opens in a new window)
Comments:
Decreased CD4 cell number is consistent with HIV infection but is not diagnostic. Inverted CD4/CD8 ratio can be seen in many viral infections.
