Residency: Case Western Reserve University Hospitals/Rainbows Babies and Children’s Hospital

Dr. De Sa is originally from Pennsylvania, majored in Neurobiology at Harvard and is completing a four year residency in medicine-pediatrics at Case Western Reserve University/Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital. She is interested in malignant hematology and wants to focus on young adults and adolescents. Given her interest in the AYA population and malignant hematology she is an excellent fit for our program and will pursue clinical research during her fellowship. She hopes to work with Dr. Brandon Hayes-Lattin and Dr. Eneida Nemecek during fellowship and develop protocols She has first authored three manuscripts and abstracts in her time as a resident, all while competing in ultra-marathons.

Undergraduate: Carleton College
Medical School: Mayo Clinic Alix School of Medicine
Residency: OHSU

Dr. Paquin originally hails from Massachusetts but has slowly migrated to the Northwest, starting with her undergrad at Carlton in frosty Minnesota. She received the Glosgow-Rubin Citation for Academic Achievement while at the Mayo Clinic – Arizona for medical school for female students who graduate in the top 10% of their medical class. Prior to medical school she worked at the NIH for two years as a translational researcher which lead to numerous publications and poster presentations. At Mayo, she researched outcomes of patients with Multiple Myeloma and received two ASH abstract awards and a honors scholar award. She will complete her residency at OHSU and has worked with Dr. Rebecca Silbermann performing data collection for a retrospective study of outcomes of patients with primary and secondary plasma cell leukemia. While at OHSU she won several awards including a Housestaff Teaching Award by the Department of Medicine. We are delighted she has decided to stay at OHSU continue her career with us.

Daniel Chandra, M.D.

Daniel Chandra, M.D., Hem-Onc Fellow
Daniel Chandra, M.D., Chief Fellow

I am from Atlanta, Georgia and attended Yale University for college, where I majored in Biology. Following college, I returned to Georgia for medical school at the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, Georgia, and I stayed there to complete my Internal Medicine residency. I discovered my interest in Hematology/Oncology during medical school while working in a lab studying the immunology of bone marrow transplantation and graft versus host disease. I hope to pursue a career as a physician-scientist with a specific interest in bone marrow transplantation and immunotherapy. Outside of work, I enjoy playing basketball, running, playing the ukulele and skateboarding.

Selina Liu, M.D.

Selina Liu, M.D., Hem-Onc Fellow
Selina Liu, M.D.

Born in China, Selina came to the U.S. with her family at age 14 and has been calling Portland home since 2004. She first discovered her passion in medicine and cancer biology research after working with Dr. William Fleming at OHSU during high school. After receiving her degrees in biology and international studies from Oregon State University, Selina spent a year as a research assistant in Drs. Stephen Spurgeon and Brian Druker’s laboratory studying the pathogenesis of myeloid neoplasms. She continued with her project during medical school at OHSU, where she further consolidated her interest in hematology oncology. She later went on to complete his internal medicine residency training at University of New Mexico after receiving her M.D. in 2018. As her clinical skill evolved during residency, she gained a deep appreciation of the need for ongoing basic and translational research to improve treatments for patients with hematologic malignancy. She looks forward to continuing her clinical and research training at OHSU as a hematology oncology fellow, where she will work alongside with world-class physicians and researchers to master the art of treating difficult hematologic conditions and the science of conducting translational research for novel cancer interventions.

Kylee Martens, M.D.

Kylee Martens, M.D., Hem-Onc Fellow
Kylee Martens, M.D., Chief Fellow

Kylee was born in New Jersey and completed both undergrad and medical school at Emory University in Atlanta. She moved to the Pacific Northwest for residency training at the University of Washington in Seattle, and is excited to now be living in Portland for fellowship. Through her training, she discovered a passion for hematology and hopes to pursue a career in academia exploring questions in thrombosis and hemostasis to inform the care she gives her patients. She is equally interested in mentorship and medical education, both of which she hopes to pursue during her time in fellowship. Outside of medicine, Kylee enjoys a variety of activities like running and baking bread, but her true passion lies in skiing, which first sparked her love for the Pacific Northwest.

Limin Zhu, M.D., Ph.D.

Limin was born and raised in China. She came to the U.S. for undergraduate education at Wesleyan College where she majored in Biology and minored in French, Psychology, and Neuroscience. Through a summer research program at the University of Texas Medical School at Houston during her junior year, she discovered a passion for biomedical research. Limin then went to graduate school at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center where she focused on translational research exploring the mechanisms underlying pulmonary metastasis of osteosarcoma. She received her Ph.D. in cancer biology in 2014 and her M.D. from the University of Texas McGovern Medical School in 2018. She completed internal medicine residency training at Baylor College of Medicine and continued to participate in clinical research in NTRK fusions and POLE mutation in solid tumors. Limin is particularly interested in sarcoma and GI cancers, and hopes to further broaden her perspective and skills in clinical cancer research during fellowship. She would like to pursue a career in academia and lead translational research and clinical trials that identify novel targets for therapeutic interventions. Outside medicine she enjoys travelling, cooking, and gardening.
