Arterial:
pH: Less than 7.1
PCO2: Greater than 70 mmHg

Venous:
pH: Less than 7.2
PCO2: Greater than 55 mmHg

Specimen Requirements:

1 mL of cord blood in a heparinized syringe.

Stability: Whole blood up to 30 minutes at room temperature, and up to 1 hour on ice.

Pediatric Specimen Requirements:

0.3 mL in a 1 mL heparinized syringe. Deliver to lab immediately.
