MRF Grants

The Medical Research Foundation supports promising biomedical exploration and the development of research careers in clinical investigation in Oregon through a program of competitively awarded research grants. MRF grants are awarded three times per year.

MRF Grant Applicants: Application guidelines are subject to change between deadlines. Please carefully review the guidelines each time you submit an application. OHSU applicants should seek guidance on OHSU's internal requirements from their appointed department and must have university approval prior to submission.

Please note new maximum grant amounts and new deadline dates. Beginning with the August 2019 deadline, application forms will need to be submitted through our Competitive Application Portal system at ohsu.infoready4.com. The Infoready site launched June 14, 2019.

Applicants from outside OHSU will need to create a free registration account to log on to the portal and submit. OHSU applicants can log on using their institutional credentials.

Important update to Spring 2020 MRF grants

In consideration of the COVID-19 pandemic and the complications it has caused for researchers, the MRF will allow applicants to this competition up to two weeks (April 29) to revise their applications and/or include OPAM approvals that couldn't be obtained by the initial April 15 deadline.

This means all revised applications must be emailed to MRFsubmit@ohsu.edu in a single, complete PDF by April 29, 5 p.m. PDT; however, to be considered you must submit an application packet draft and answer all administrative questions in the CAP application by April 15, 11:59 p.m. PDT. Reviewer assignments will be made using the application submitted by the April 15 deadline, so this version must include draft, if not final, versions of the abstract, background/significance, specific aims, biosketch and, if applicable, collaborators.

Revised applications submitted after the April 15 deadline will be added to the CAP manually and replace the applicant’s draft application.

Please note that chair/mentor letters are still due one week after the app deadline (April 22) and must be submitted via the CAP.

Questions about these new guidelines can be sent to MRFsubmit@ohsu.edu and questions about the CAP application can be sent to funding@ohsu.edu.
