Programs

The ReConnect Gap-Year Fellowship is a workforce development program that is part of statewide AHEC health career pathway. The objective of the ReConnect Gap-Year Fellowship is to help influence pre-health students to return and practice in a rural area after medical school. Another objective is to encourage rural clinics to pre-recruit students before they progress to medical school. The program provides pre-health students with a paid, clinical work experience to develop their understanding of, and competence in, practice with rural and underserved populations. The program targets students who are in their gap year(s)- after graduation from undergraduate premedical education and while applying for graduate medical school.
