Kyle Ambert

I am the sort of person who likes to turn ideas upside-down, to see if anything interesting falls out. The sort of scientist who lives for the methods sections. The sort of Portlander whose civic pride is equal parts love of its people, trails, and complex breakfast foods. The sort of writer with a soft spot for a well-timed semicolon; it’s true.

I’m interested in all things Neuroscience, Machine Learning, and statistics, as well as in the technologies and policies supporting scientific discovery. At present, I am a Fellow with the National Library of Medicine, completing my Ph.D. in Bioinformatics at OHSU’s Department of Medical Informatics & Clinical Epidemiology.

Ever wondered what life is like as a student at OHSU? What does it take to become a researcher? Just how gross is gross anatomy? Welcome to the blog that answers these – and many other – questions. It’s students writing first-hand about their commitment to careers in science and health care. It’s honest about the challenges as well as the joys. It’s not always pretty. But it is our story. Thank you for sharing it with us. And please, let us know what you think.
