All Nursing Students

After completing the primary modules detailed on the Welcome page, complete the additional modules required for your placement unit.

All nursing roles will be granted Epic access on the first day of your clinical rotation. 

The modules listed below are searchable in Compass. Some are self-assigned and others may be assigned to you by the OHSU Onboarding Coordinator.

BLS Certification Requirement

OHSU does not accept AHA RQI certification. Learners must obtain an AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider certification card.

ADN & BSN module requirements

For associate or bachelor degree nursing students, select your rotation area below to view the additional Compass modules and training requirements. 

Inpatient rotations complete:

  1. Omnicell Nurse Patient Care Training
  2. Glucometer; complete both online 2025 POCT Curriculum and an in-person training. 
    • Register in Compass for a date/time to attend the required in-person glucometer training after completing the online module. Titles to search for in Compass: Glucometer Training For Visiting Nursing Students, Glucometer - 2025 POCT Curriculum. 
  3. Epic Video Training: Inpatient Nursing Students Curriculum
    • Search for and complete the training in Compass. Training must be completed before access is provided. 

Ambulatory rotations complete:

  1. Epic Video Training: Ambulatory Nurses Curriculum
  2. Glucometer; complete both online 2025 POCT Curriculum and an in-person training. 
    • Register in Compass for a date/time to attend the required in-person glucometer training after completing the online module. Titles to search for in Compass: Glucometer Training For Visiting Nursing Students, Glucometer - 2025 POCT Curriculum. 

Epic training is required for Epic access. 

OR rotations complete:

  1. Epic Video Training: OpTime OR Nurses Curriculum
  2. Omnicell Nurse Patient Care Training

Epic training is required for Epic access.

Periop rotations complete:

  1. Epic Video Training: Perianesthesia Nurses (Standard) Curriculum
  2. Omnicell Nurse Patient Care Training
  3. Glucometer; complete both online 2025 POCT Curriculum and an in-person training. 
    • Register in Compass for a date/time to attend the required in-person glucometer training after completing the online module. Titles to search for in Compass: Glucometer Training For Visiting Nursing Students, Glucometer - 2025 POCT Curriculum. 

Epic training is required for Epic access.

Procedural rotations complete:

  1. Epic Video Training: Procedural and Diagnostic Nurses (Standard) Curriculum
  2. Omnicell Nurse Patient Care Training
  3. Glucometer; complete both online 2025 POCT Curriculum and an in-person training.

ED /ED Obs rotations complete:

ED Obs Rotations:

If view-only Epic access is needed for a scholarly project, complete the following:

Epic training is required for view only access.

Network & Epic information

Network login and Epic access information will be provided to you directly via the email address your school placement coordinator provided to the OHSU visiting student onboarding team. You will need to create a temporary account to view the email. 

The email will also include an attachment with instructions indicating how to authenticate your OHSU Network ID during your first rotation. 

Epic access will be granted after the successful completion of modules and training, for the first day of your rotation start date.  If you have completed the requirements, your rotation has started, and you still do not have access, please contact the Epic Support Desk at epicsupp@ohsu.edu.

Omnicell

After the completion of the Omnicell Compass module and assessment, you will need to sign an attestation statement in Compass.  The attestation is required prior to receiving Omnicell access. Access is granted for the first day of your rotation, should you not receive access, please contact the OHSU visiting student onboarding coordinator.

Missing a training

If you are late to a live training, please contact the OHSU Student Onboarding Coordinator to reschedule. Visiting students will not be allowed to start a clinical rotation without completing the required training and modules.
