Medical scribes

Medical scribes are unlicensed, health-degree focused individuals who provide real-time documentation assistance for healthcare providers. Medical scribes alleviate the documentation burden of providers in order to deliver efficient, cost-effective, high-quality patient care.

Whether in-person or remote, scribes accompany the provider throughout the patient visit and are trained to record any pertinent information (patient histories, exam findings, diagnoses, and patient instructions) in real time as directed by the provider. Therefore, the bulk of the data entry duties are relieved from the provider, who are then responsible for reviewing, revising, and signing a completed visit note.
