ACC Research Storage | OHSU ACC Research Data Stroage

ACC has started the process of moving off the RDS host Isilon data storage platform by migrating research data storage to the recently acquired WEKA data storage platform. RDS storage services will be replaced by new research data storage services that will be available under the name FORTERA. Announcements detailing FORTERA services, costs, and migration plans will sent out as individual projects are closer to the time of transfer.

RDS will continue to operate while the transitions occur, however RDS services will gradually be curtailed as FORTERA services become available.

FORTERA Research Storage Service Information

$78 per terabyte (TB) per year (FY26 rate)
Data protection includes filesystem snapshots enabled by default at setup.

The FORETERA data storage service provides long-term, large-scale, secure storage housed in an OHSU secure datacenter facility.

Offered in partnership between the Advanced Computing Center (ACC) and the Information Technology Group (ITG), Research Data Storage is a large scale data storage service designed specifically to meet the needs of the research community through a easy-to-access, robust and flexible platform.

Common uses for FORTERA storage shares include: use as a second location for storing important lab data (a more reliable alternative to USB storage devices), network mounted storage for projects too large for the traditional X: drive solution, and persistent warm storage for ACC cluster (ARC) data.

Storage shares on the FORTERA platform have been configured to enhance data protection by implementing local filesystem snapshots (rapid file recovery from user error). For an additional fee, FORTERA shares can be backed up through services offered through the Advanced Computing Center (ACC). Please contact ACC for further information.

Remote (off-campus) access to FORTERA shares is possible through traditional OHSU remote access offerings like CITRIX and VPN access. ACC also offers a remote access method for an additional fee. Please contact ACC for further information.
