OHSU Clinical Laboratory Recommendations Regarding Self-collected GU Specimens used in Aptima NAAT for CT/NG and Bacterial vaginosis:
1. Cases are not involved in legal investigations.
2. Patients age: 15 to 65 years.
3. Patients who have been assessed for both physical and cognitive abilities, as well as language accessibility to written instructions.
4. Anatomic sites: 1) vaginal swabs, 2) first void or “dirty” urine, and 3) penile meatus (Warning: self-collection does not include throat and rectal swabs).
