Comments:

Order as a follow-up when patient is refractory to platelet transfusion and nonimmune causes have been ruled out. HLA typing and antibody screen will be included, as appropriate. Results will be faxed to Transfusion Services and Red Cross Tissue Typing Department.
Determination of HLA-A and HLA-B histocompatibility antigens using DNA technology (polymerase chain reaction-sequence specific primers, sequence specific oligonucleotides, or Next Generation Sequencing).
A flow cytometric assay is performed to determine the specificity of IgG anti-class I antibodies.
