Its schools, colleges and numerous continuing education programs create vibrant context for lifelong learning. And OHSU's mission to improve the health and well-being of all Oregonians instills in our students a commitment to serve the communities where they live and work.

What Education at OHSU means for Oregon

OHSU is Oregon's only academic health center and plays a vital role in educating the professionals who can meet the needs of the state and its citizens. The university continually assesses healthcare shortages in every region of the state. Based on those assessments, OHSU develops curricula and policies designed to improve the geographic distribution of healthcare professionals in Oregon. We train providers in high-demand specialties and inspire future clinicians to practice in parts of the state where their skills will be needed most.
