ALLIED HEALTH

OHSU Programs:

OHSU / OIT Collaborative Programs:

Allied health education at OHSU encompasses a range of undergraduate and graduate programs offered in the OHSU School of Medicine in collaboration with the Oregon Institute of Technology. Allied Health students have diverse career goals, but a singleness of purpose -- caring for people.

The university's unique resources strengthen allied health education just as the allied health programs strengthen the university. Study occurs under the guidance of faculty members who are committed to student learning, to increasing understanding of health and conditions which compromise health, and to providing quality health care.

Regardless of the study you are undertaking you will be challenged academically. The challenges you face as a student will prepare you for practice in a variety of settings in a field where there is a high demand for your services.

Student and educational policies are coordinated through program directors meeting in the Allied Health Council. The Allied Health Council works with representatives of secondary schools, community colleges and four-year colleges and universities in Oregon to develop prerequisite requirements for admission to baccalaureate allied health programs at OHSU. Appropriate interdisciplinary courses in allied health also are being developed through the Allied Health Council. These courses facilitate learning to work as a team with other health care providers in the comprehensive evaluation and care of patients.
