MR Adult Frameless Brain W,WO, or W/WO plus DCE/DSC Perfusion Protocol

  • IF GAD IS NOT NEEDED: A verbal protocol from a Radiologist is NOT REQUIRED. Assign “no protocol required” in RIS. Charge as Brain WO.
  • IF GAD IS NEEDED: A verbal protocol from a Radiologist IS REQUIRED. Assign the Rad’s name as the protocol in RIS. Charge as Brain W/WO or Brain W.
  • POSITIONING THE PATIENT: If the patient has fiducials, Carefully Pull Back on Blue Sponges and Release Near Patients Chin Watch the Fiducals to Ensure Location Has Not Changed. Prep Power Injector to Split Contrast Injection for DCE (1/3 of total contrast amount) and DSC (2/3). 15 ml Saline Chaser after DCE and DSC. PATIENT NEEDS A 20G OR BIGGER PERIPHERAL IV.

DCE Notes:
  • Exam is set up with a manual start
  • Start injection @ 4-5 ml/second AT THE SAME TIME YOU BEGIN Dynamic 8
  • 15ml Saline chaser

DSC Notes:
  • Scan for 8-10 Seconds then begin contrast injection @ 5ml/s
