A spinal tumor is a benign (noncancerous) or malignant (cancerous) growth in or near your spinal cord or spinal bones. Back pain is the most common symptom of a spinal tumor, but most back pain is caused by stress, strain and aging — not a tumor.
Spinal tumors can occur at any age, but are most common in young and middle-aged adults.
