The C. Rex and Ruth H. Layton Aging & Alzheimer's Disease Center in Portland, Oregon is dedicated to the study and treatment of Alzheimer's Disease and other age-related disorders.

The Layton Aging & Alzheimer's Disease Center is recognized as a national leader in dementia care and research. We are one of 29 NIH Alzheimer's Disease Centers in the United States and the only one in Oregon.

More than 56,000 Oregonians suffer from Alzheimer's disease (AD), the most common cause of dementia in older adults, or a related disorder. These dementias become more common with increasing age; more than half of Americans over the age of 85 develop problems with cognitive (thinking) impairment or memory. Experts at the Layton Aging & Alzheimer's Disease Center provide outstanding medical care, leading-edge research and education to tackle these the challenges of dementia for families throughout the Pacific Northwest.

Our experts work with you and your primary care provider to learn more about your memory loss and other thinking problems that keep you from fully participating in daily activities. We can also refer you to community resources.

The Layton Center gives you access to full-service treatment for Alzheimer's disease and other dementias.

The Layton Center conducts a variety of studies. Research areas include:
