Congenital heart disease is the most common birth defect in the U.S., but due to major advances in medical and surgical care, more than 90% of these patients are surviving into adulthood. There are over 1 million adults in the U.S. with congenital heart disease, but many are not keeping up with routine, follow-up care. OHSU's Adult Congenital Heart Disease program offers many specialty services, including:

Common conditions we treat

There are many types of congenital heart disease. The right treatment for you depends on these factors. We treat over forty types of heart defects, from mild to severe, including:

  • Aorta and blood vessel conditions (such as coarctation of the aorta and patent ductus arteriosis)
  • Genetic conditions affecting the heart and blood vessels (such as Marfan syndrome and Turner syndrome)
  • Heart valve conditions(such as aortic stenosis and regurgitation and Ebstein’s Anomaly)
  • Other structural heart conditions (such as tetralogy of fallot and ventricular septal defect)
  • Surgical follow-up care (such as the Rastelli procedure)
