MedStars Honors Experience

MedStars provides a hands-on career-development experience to high-school and early-college students interested in health-care careers.

MEDSTARS

During one week of July each year, 40 qualified high-school students visit Oregon Health & Science University for a crash course in health science career development.  Students:
  • Meet with health professionals
  • Learn about 25 different health-care careers
  • Stay in a college dorm and meet peers from around the state.

MedStars is currently taking applications for the 2012 program (July 17-21), as well as for peer counselors who have already completed the program.

MedStars is sponsored by the Area Health Education Center Program Office and the four regional AHEC centers throughout Oregon.

Feedback

"I wanted to thank you for the awesome week I had with the MedStars program. Your program is so amazing and helped me decide what medical career I want to have. This is a wonderful opportunity, and I hope you can expand your program for college-age students. I had so much fun and learned a lot. Thanks again for everything! I look forward to keeping in touch."
