The Bone & Mineral Unit at OHSU offers two clinical programs: Bone & Mineral / Osteoporosis Clinic and Bone Density Lab.

Bone & Mineral / Osteoporosis Clinic

The Bone & Mineral / Osteoporosis Clinic provides expert consultation and care for patients with disorders of bone and mineral metabolism.  Some of these disorders are:

  • Osteoporosis
  • Osteopenia
  • Elevated Calcium / Parathyroid Hormone
  • Vitamin D Deficiency
  • Metabolic bone disease

Bone Density Lab

The Bone Density Lab uses Dual Energy X-ray Absorptiometry (DEXA) to measure the mineral density of bones.  A bone density scan can help provide important information to you and your physician for the diagnosis, treatment and monitoring of Osteoporosis and other metabolic bone conditions.
