Course Reserves

Reserve materials are library items which have been separated from the Library’s general collection to better serve high demand usage of course materials in support of educational programs at OHSU.

Print course reserve items are available at the OHSU Library Service Desk, 3rd floor, BICC building.

Information for students

Students are expected to purchase their required textbooks. Library Course Reserves are intended as short-term aid and not for covering the entire course.

Find reserve items:

To see if we already have what you are looking for, please conduct a Library Search

Keep in mind that the Library does what it can to order items in e-book format but not all publishers and venders allow e-book options for institutions.  It is also important to note that students are ultimately responsible for providing their own textbooks for each term.

Loan periods:

Most Reserve materials have a 1-day check out time and can be requested in advance.  Course reserve items are unable to be renewed.

Information for faculty/instructors

Request course reserve materials:

Submit the online Course Reserve form to have materials placed on reserve, allowing at least 4 weeks for ordering and processing materials.

Reserve materials are added from library collections or purchased by the OHSU Library. E-books are purchased in lieu print whenever possible but keep in mind that not all publishers/vendors allow for institutional purchase of e-books.  Print items will be placed on the Course Reserve shelf for students to checkout for 7 days with no renewal options.

Reserve Items will be pulled from the Reserve Shelf annually. Instructors will be sent a list of items they have on reserve before they are pulled and can indicate which items they would like to keep on reserve for the following year.
