Driving to Marquam Hill

From Lake Oswego/Sellwood Bridge area

  • Travel north on S.W. Macadam Avenue.
  • Turn left onto S.W. Boundary Street.
  • Proceed one block and turn right onto S.W. Corbett Avenue
  • Turn left onto S.W. Hamilton Street.
  • Turn right onto S.W. Barbur Boulevard and continue for approximately 2.5 miles.
  • At the second light past the YMCA (on the left), make a sharp left turn onto S.W. Caruthers Street.
  • Turn left at the second light onto S.W. 6th Avenue

From Hwy 26/Sunset Hwy East

  • Travel east on Hwy. 26/Sunset Hwy.
  • Stay in the right lane and follow the signs to I-405 (Salem/The Dalles).
  • After passing through the Vista Ridge tunnel, stay to the right as the freeway branches.
  • Take the S.W. 6th Avenue exit.
  • Turn right onto S.W. 6th Avenue

From I-84 West

  • Travel west on I-84 to the juncture with I-5.
  • Follow I-5 south toward Salem.
  • As you cross the Marquam Bridge, merge into one of the two left lanes, following the signs to City Center/Beaverton.
  • Take the S.W. 6th Avenue exit.
  • Immediately move to the left lane and turn onto S.W. College Street (or the next possible street that allows a left turn.)
  • Turn left onto S.W. Broadway Avenue and move to the right lane.
  • Bear right onto S.W. 6th Avenue, following signs to OHSU

From I-5 North

  • Travel north on I-5.
  • Take exit 297 (Terwilliger Boulevard).
  • Turn left at stop light onto S.W. Terwilliger Boulevard.
  • Turn right onto S.W. Barbur Boulevard and continue for approximately 2.5 miles.
  • At the second light past the YMCA, make a sharp left turn onto S.W. Caruthers Street.
  • Turn left onto S.W. 6th Avenue.

From I-5 South

  • Travel south on I-5 toward Salem.
  • As you cross the Marquam Bridge, merge into one of the two left lanes, following signs to City Center/Beaverton.
  • Take the S.W. 6th Avenue exit
  • Immediately move to the left lane and turn onto S.W. College Street (or the next possible street that allows a left turn.)
  • Turn left onto S.W. Broadway and move to the right lane.
  • Bear right onto S.W. 6th Avenue, following the signs to OHSU

From Ross Island Bridge

  • Travel north on S.E. McLoughlin Boulevard or west on S.E. Powell Boulevard.
  • After crossing the Ross Island Bridge, take the City Center exit.
  • Follow S.W. Corbett Avenue, staying in the left lane.
  • S.W. Corbett will turn into S.W. Kelly, then into S.W. Arthur, and finally into S.W. Caruthers before ending at S.W. 6th Avenue.
  • Turn left onto S.W. 6th Avenue.

From I-405 South

  • Take I-405 south.
  • Take the S.W. 6th Avenue exit.
  • Turn right on S.W. 6th Avenue, following the signs to OHSU

Navigating on Marquam Hill

For Casey Eye Institute, OHSU Dental Clinics and Doernbecher Children's Hospital patients and visitors:

  • Turn left onto S.W. Terwilliger Boulevard.
  • Turn right onto S.W. Campus Drive.
  • Parking for Casey Eye Institute: Turn right at the first driveway. Drive past the front entrance to Casey Eye Institute. The entrance to the garage will be on your right.
  • Parking for the Dental Clinic: Continue on S.W. Campus Drive. Entrance to the parking garage is on the right just past the Dental School. Please park only in metered areas designated for Dental Clinic patients.
  • Parking for Doernbecher Children's Hospital: Continue on S.W. Campus Drive. Make a slight left turn immediately after passing under the hospital. Designated parking for Doernbecher is along the left side of the street and in front of the hospital.

For Veterans Affairs Medical Center:

  • Turn left onto S.W. Terwilliger Boulevard
  • Turn right onto S.W. U.S. Veterans Hospital Road.
  • Follow the signs to VA Medical Center parking.

For Physicians Pavilion, Multnomah Pavilion or OHSU Hospital:

  • Continue straight up the hill on S.W. Sam Jackson Park Road (do NOT turn left onto S.W. Terwilliger Blvd.)
  • Physicians Pavilion parking: Valet parking is available in the Physicians Pavilion Garage, Monday through Friday, from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Follow the signs on your right for valet parking.
  • Long-term parking: Day Stay patients may use long-term parking in the Sam Jackson Parking Garage. The entrance is across the street from OHSU Hospital.
  • Emergency Department parking: Emergency Department patients (or their drivers) may self park in Sam Jackson Parking Garage. The entrance to the garage is across the street from the entrance to the Emergency Department. If Emergency Department visitors prefer, they may drive directly to the entrance to the Emergency Department and use valet parking. Emergency Department valet parking is available seven days a week, from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.

For Kohler Pavilion patients and their visitors, including Center for Women's Health, the Women's Imaging Center and the Breast Center at OHSU:

  • Continue straight up the hill S.W. Sam Jackson Park Road (do NOT turn left onto S.W. Terwilliger Blvd.)
  • Turn left onto S.W. Campus Drive, which is the first left turn at the top of the hill (across from Shriners Hospital for Children.)
  • Turn right into the entrance to Kohler Pavilion.
  • The entrance to the garage is on the right. Valet Parking is available Monday through Friday, from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Parking Options on Marquam Hill

Patients, and friends and family of patients who are in OHSU's hospitals, may park for free in designated areas on Marquam Hill Campus. Patient/visitor parking areas are located in the Physicians Pavilion, Kohler Pavilion, Casey Eye Institute, near Doernbecher Children's Hospital, and in Sam Jackson Parking Garage across from the Emergency Department. If you have additional questions, please call OHSU Parking at 503 494-8283.

All other visitors to OHSU must park in the metered parking area on the top level of Sam Jackson Parking Garage, or purchase a parking pass in the Parking Information Booth on S.W. U.S. Veterans Hospital Road at the intersection with S.W. Sam Jackson Park Road.

VALET PARKING FOR PATIENTS

Free valet parking is available for patients, and for friends and family who are visiting patients who are in the hospital. This valet parking is available in the following locations:

  • Kohler Pavilion Garage Valet Parking:  Monday through Friday, from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Physicians Pavilion Garage Valet Parking:  Monday through Friday, from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Emergency Department: Patients visiting the Emergency Department may self park in the Sam Jackson Parking Garage (across the street from the Emergency Department entrance) or may use the Emergency Department valet parking service.  Emergency Department valet parking is available at the main entrance to the Emergency Department seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

REMINDER:  If you park in a parking structure that has an attendant, please take the parking voucher with you to your appointment. Your doctor's office will validate your voucher so you will not have to pay when you leave the garage.

OVERFLOW PARKING:  If you have been unable to find a parking place, please ask the parking attendant for directions to other parking areas.

Campus Drive Parking Structure
(self park, Level 1):  Metered parking for dental patients. Enter next to the School of Dentistry.

Doernbecher Children’s Hospital Parking
(Parking Structure C on OHSU map):  Reserved for patients who have appointments in Doernbecher Children’s Hospital.

Casey Eye Institute Parking Structure
(self park, Levels 1, 2 and 3 - Parking Structure F on OHSU map):  Recommended for patients who have appointments in Casey Eye Institute, Hatfield Research Center or OHSU Hospital.

Emma Jones Parking
(Parking Structure H on OHSU map):  Limited parking for patients who have appointments in Family Medicine at Marquam Hill, which is located in Emma Jones Hall. Please ask for a parking permit at the front desk.

CDRC Parking
(Parking Structure D on OHSU map):  Limited parking for patients who have appointments in the CDRC or CDRC West buildings.

Physicians Pavilion Parking Structure,
Levels 1-5 (Parking Structure G on OHSU map):  Recommended for patients who have appointments in the Outpatient Clinics Building, Physicians Pavilion, Multnomah Pavilion or OHSU Hospital. 

Patient self parking:  Area G 
Patient valet parking:  Area GV

Sam Jackson Parking Structure,
Levels 1 and 3 only, and metered parking on top level (Parking Structure A on OHSU map):   Recommended for patients who have appointments in the Outpatient Clinics Building, OHSU Hospital, Hatfield Research Center, or patients visiting the Emergency Department.
