The seventh annual Symposium for Portland Area Research on Complementary and Alternative Medicine (SPARC) will be held on Saturday, May 4th in the OHSU auditorium. SPARC is a research symposium that highlights current research in complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) and promotes scientific collaboration. SPARC 2013 focuses on the evolution of CAM research. Researchers from Portland and beyond will discuss current CAM research and the future of the field.
Keynote speaker Rick Hecht, MD, Research Director of the UCSF Osher Center for Integrative Medicine will present From Mood to Messenger RNA: Mechanisms, Methods, and Misfortunes in Integrative Medicine Research. In the afternoon, choose to attend one of three break-out sessions on botanical medicine, acupuncture or data management. Continuing education credit is available for NDs, LAcs, DCs and nurses.
In the two weeks leading up to SPARC, research posters from CAM investigators travel to all participating institutions in Portland. The traveling poster exhibit gives a visual summary of the local, innovative CAM research projects in Portland. The posters will be at OHSU in the BICC on Monday, April 22nd and Tuesday, April 23rd.
