OHSU researchers average one breakthrough, discovery, or innovation every three days.

As a leader in research, OHSU earned $359 million in research funding in fiscal year 2012. Additionally, the university serves as a catalyst for the region's bioscience industry and is an incubator of discovery with more than 3,000 research projects currently under way.

In breaking new ground in the effort to improve life for Oregon and beyond, the university is promoting commercialization of OHSU technologies and intellectual property. The Technology Transfer and Business Development office licenses OHSU's intellectual property; links business with OHSU technologies and expertise; negotiates industry research collaborations; and launches companies based on OHSU technologies.

The goal of research commercialization is to bridge the gap between promising research and public benefit.

Discoveries from OHSU laboratories expand the economy and improve overall health and quality of life. With schools in medicine, dentistry and nursing, OHSU generates discoveries in areas ranging from pharmaceuticals and medical devices to computer technology and environmental health.
