Mission

OCCYSHN's mission is to improve the health, development and well-being of all Oregon's children and youth with special health needs.

Vision

OCCYSHN's vision is that all Oregon's children and youth with special health care needs are supported by a system of care that is family-centered, culturally competent, community-based, coordinated, accessible, comprehensive, and continuous.

Equity commitment

Because racism and other forms of discrimination affect health care for Oregon’s children with special health needs and their families, we are committed to advancing health equity. Read our Equity Commitment.

Who we serve

OCCYSHN works on behalf of Oregon's children and youth with special health care needs (CYSHCN). These children and youth either have chronic health conditions, or they are at risk for having them. Their health conditions can be physical, developmental, behavioral, or emotional.  CYSHCN need more health and related services than other children. One in five Oregon children fits this description.

How we serve

We inform and support the families and professionals who care for CYSHCN. We gather, analyze, and share data to improve the systems and policies that impact Oregon CYSHCN and their families. Family members of CYSCHN participate fully in planning and implementing our work. Read about our programs and projects. Read about our funding and accountability.

We value your input

If you have comments or suggestions about how we can best serve Oregon's children and youth with special health care needs, please send us an email
