Biography
Dr. Smith's practice is focused on nasal and sinus disease and surgery including management of chronic sinusitis, polyps, allergy, septal deviation, growths and tumors of the sinuses and skull base, and cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) leaks. Treating patients with both medication and surgery when necessary, Dr. Smith works with a multi-disciplinary team to assure the best treatment outcome. He has served as a physician and surgeon at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee and the Medical College of Wisconsin before becoming the Director of the Oregon Sinus Center at OHSU in 2005. He currently serves as the Chief of Rhinology and Sinus Surgery and a Professor of Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery. In addition to his clinical practice, he is actively involved in research and he holds a research grant from the National Institutes of Health to study outcomes of treatment for sinus disorders. Dr. Smith has been invited to speak nationally and internationally about nasal and sinus disorders and surgery and has numerous publications in the medical literature related to nasal and sinus disease.
