"When it comes to surgery, we should always ask the question, “How will this enhance my quality of life?”"
Biography
Surgeons and patients are both human and seem to do better with an approach that takes into account the overall health of the patient, not only performing a technically proficient procedure. As much as is possible in the world of busy, modern healthcare, I try to tailor communication with my patients so that they can spend less time in the hospital or driving to and from appointments and more time doing the things they enjoy. I enjoy working with kids in the OHSU Cleft/ Craniofacial Center because it allows me to develop special ongoing relationships with patients and their families from year to year as the children grow – and I enjoy helping to restore people to normal appearance and function after facial injuries or other facial surgeries. In my spare time, I am trying to see, camp in, climb on, ski down, hike over, paddle through, and photograph as much of Oregon as I can.
