Biography
Dr Chen is a specialist in hematologic malignancies, particularly lymphoma. After college at Yale, he went to Harvard for his MD and PhD where he studied activation of the immune system in the laboratory. He then completed his residency and fellowship at Stanford where he conducted research in lymphoid malignancies. Dr Chen sees both transplant and non-transplant patients with lymphoma. His research focuses on clinical trials of new therapies for lymphoma. He is the disease site leader for lymphoma clinical trials at the OHSU Knight Cancer Institute and is the faculty leader for the clinical research group at the OHSU Center for Hematologic Malignancies. He has been recognized as a ‘Top Doctor’ by Portland Monthly magazine and gives numerous talks on lymphoma around Oregon for patients, staff, physicians, and organizations such as the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. As disclosure, Dr Chen does work with pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, but any and all personal compensation is donated to lymphoma related charities. When not at work, Dr Chen is usually outside running along the river or exploring the Pacific Northwest with his moderately well behaved – but very happy - Labrador retriever.
