Support Services

We recognize that facing cancer treatment or transplant can be a stressful life experience for your child and family. We offer a variety of support and mental health services to help you through this time.

Social work - we have three dedicated social workers in our hematology/oncology program. Each one works with a group of doctors and serves as a key member of the care team, providing individualized care to your child.

School teachers - Portland Public Schools provides our hematology/oncology program with two school teachers who work closely with your child and your child's teacher. They coordinate lesson plans so that your child continues to progress in school. They also help your child to integrate back into the classroom after a long absence.

Child life therapy - Our highly skilled child life specialists work with your child and your child's siblings to cope with the many unique medical interactions, medical procedures and physical changes that often come with a cancer or blood disorder diagnosis.
