Exercise Programs

Physical Therapists strive to assist our patients to reach their highest level of independent functioning. Patients who have neurological issues, such as Parkinson’s, brain injury, stroke, Multiple sclerosis, neuropathies, muscular dystrophies or other neuro-motor or sensory affected diseases require more specific exercises programs and protocols then the traditional injured athlete. Physical therapists have a thorough understanding of neurological conditions and specialize in adjusting and progressing exercises for an individual. The exercises are all individually based and are directed towards making the patient as safe as possible while meeting their goals. In more specific terms, we incorporate functional training that includes strength, aerobic (endurance), balance and coordination exercises. Dual task activities (to allow the brain to perform one task such as counting out loud, while doing another task such as walking) may be included.
