Dr. Wilmot is a staff scientist in the Oregon Clinical and Translational Research Institute (OCTRI) at Oregon Health and Science University. Dr. Wilmot has a PhD in Quantitative Genetics and a MS in Health Evaluation Sciences. She completed her postdoctoral training in statistical genetics at OHSU. At OHSU, Dr. Wilmot serves as a statistical geneticist for the Translational Bioinformatics Program and the Biostatistics and Design Program within OCTRI. In this capacity, she manages the statistical genetics projects for OCTRI investigators through her supervision of data analysts and statistical programmers. She teaches statistical genetic and genomic methodology through a combination of research projects, reading groups and special topics courses. She also coordinates the Statistical Genetics and Genomics Working Group and the Copy Number Working Group for the OCTRI Translational Bioinformatics Group.
The focus of her research is on the development and application of statistical and computational methodologies for analysis of genomic data (gene expression, SNP variation and copy number variation) in both unrelated individuals and pedigrees in order to understand the role of genomic variation in disease (cancer, psychiatric disorders, Alzheimer's disease, etc.).
