Artist In Residence

Suzy loves exploring the visual perimeters of her subjects, creating paintings infused with the spirit of the interaction. Classically trained, she studied realism in New York City for 6 years before headed west and receiving her MFA in Painting from The University of Montana in 1997. Suzy is best known for her portrait paintings and for her highly textured surfaces in her Big Fruit and Landscape work. Suzy is particularly moved by relationships and telling moments in time that elude direct narrative or traditional storytelling. Her lifetime interests in archeology, science and psychology all influence her choice of imagery.

Suzy teaches painting at Portland Community College Continuing Education,The Multnomah Art Center and tutors students from her studio in St Johns.
