About me

Dr. Ryu graduated from the University of Toronto with an Honors Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in neurosciences. His graduate thesis in traumatic brain injury led to an interest in pursuing a career in medicine. After obtaining his medical degree at Western University, he completed his neurosurgical residency at the University of Calgary and earned his board certification from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. In 2020, Dr. Ryu completed fellowship training in complex and minimally-invasive spine surgery at Rush University.

Dr. Ryu’s clinical interests are in neurosurgery and spine surgery. He is passionate about providing cutting-edge comprehensive care for patients with spine and spinal cord disorders. Specifically, he specializes in degenerative spine disorders, spinal deformity, and spinal oncology. Dr. Ryu utilizes novel surgical and non-surgical treatments including minimally-invasive techniques to optimize the functional health and quality of life of his patients.
