About me
I am a family physician specializing in clinical lipidology with two decades of experience in biomedical research. My goal is to provide holistic, patient-centered care through the use of evidence based medicine.
I was born in Spain, spent my childhood in Poland and my teenage years in the Republic of Panama. I graduated from Medical University of Warsaw, where I obtained M.D., Ph.D., and D.S.c (habilitation) degrees. My postdoctoral training was at the German Cancer Research Center in Heidelberg, Germany, Hospital Eduard Herriot in Lyon, France, and Mt. Sinai School in Medicine in New York, NY. I worked as assistant professor at UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, TX and then at IU School of Medicine in Evansville, IN. When there, I taught medical students and conducted biomedical research focusing on cancer, neurodegenerative diseases, and obesity.
Before obtaining my position at OHSU I completed my family medicine training at the Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, IN. As you can see, I have lived and worked in many countries, environments, and cultures; I thrive in a diverse and multicultural environment. I plan to combine patient care with clinical research and teaching. My personal interests include traveling and hiking with my family, reading, fishing, and hunting.
