Biomedical Informatics Graduate Education

Welcome to OHSU School of Medicine’s biomedical informatics graduate program. We invite you to learn more about our graduate programs and the benefits of studying at Oregon’s only public academic medical center.

The graduate program is administered by the Department of Medical Informatics and Clinical Epidemiology, or DMICE, one of 27 departments in the medical school. For more than 30 years, DMICE has been dedicated to using data to improve health care and biomedical research.

The program includes a Bioinformatics and Computational Biomedicine Major and a Health and Clinical Informatics Major, as well as Fellowships, and Partnership Programs.

Our program

Students in a classroom

The biomedical informatics graduate program is one of the oldest and largest in the United States. When you pursue an advanced degree or certificate here, you’ll be well prepared to break new ground in the field of biomedical informatics.

Our professors are internationally known in the fields of healthcare informatics, bioinformatics and computational biomedicine — and our faculty’s research interests are directly tied to our curriculum. As a Biomedical Informatics student, you’ll have the chance to learn from faculty as they explore new frontiers in biomedicine, healthcare, data and information science.

The graduate program offers:

  • Tuition and fees comparable to similar programs but with a larger return on investment.
  • One of the one of the most extensive informatics course catalogs in the nation.
  • Opportunities to learn alongside and build lifelong relationships with diverse faculty who are leaders in the field.
  • Hands-on training in state-of-the-art information systems.
  • A competitive fellowship program one of only 18 of its kind to be funded by the prestigious National Library of Medicine.
  • A demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion, with programs, mentoring and support for students underrepresented in STEM.
