4) Review FAQs about SLRP. http://nhsc.hrsa.gov/currentmembers/stateloanrepaymentprogram/faq/index.html

5) Calculate your maximum SLRP award.  With Oregon SLRP, candidates are eligible for loan repayment of 50% of their total qualifying loan debt disbursed over the course of their 2-year service obligation. The service must match 50% (plus an admin fee of 10%) of the total SLRP award.

Example:  You are a qualifying provider with $100,000 in outstanding eligible, student loans. You are eligible for a SLRP award of $25,000 per year. Your site agrees to pay the first year. They pay $30,000 ($25,000 for the repayment, $5,000 for admin fees) up front and the SLRP program pays $25,000 for the second year.

6) Be prepared to negotiate with your site. If your site is unable to contribute the maximum matching amount, they can choose to participate at a lesser amount. The minimum site contribution is $6,000 ($5,000 matching funds plus $1,000 admin fee).
