Phoebe Rich, M.D., adjunct professor of dermatology, provides her extensive expertise in nail disease to OHSU by directing the nail clinic in the Department of Dermatology. Dr. Rich received her medical degree at OHSU and received her dermatology training for the OHSU Department of Dermatology. Her interest in nail disease began when she was a resident. She supplemented her dermatology training with additional sub-specialty training from two nationally-known nail experts and as she began her private practice, she continued to focus her efforts in researching and treating nail diseases. Her career now spans nearly 20 years and she is internationally recognized for her expertise.

As a leader and educator of dermatology, Rich has contributed significantly. She lectures on nail disorders locally, nationally and internationally including a recent presentation at the World Congress of Dermatology in Buenos Aires and she was the co-chairperson of a nail symposium at the 10th International Congress of Dermatology in Prague, Czech Republic, in May 2009. She is a founding member and scientific advisory board member of the Council of Nail Disorders, an organization dedicated to research and education about nail problems. Additionally, she is a member of the European Nail Society and a charter member of the International Melanonychia Society, and is involved in many other associations and organizations, as well.

Dr. Rich has also put energies and focus into resident education and mentorship throughout her career. She is a mentor for young dermatologists and residents with an interest in nail disorders, many of whom visit Portland under Woman's Dermatology and National Council mentorship grants.
