Common Questions: Neonatal Resuscitation Program

What are the steps I need to take to get registered?

  • Complete the online Registration Form.
  • Receive your Exam and Confirmation email.
  • Study the NRP 6th Edition Book.
  • Take Pre-Requisite Online NRP Exam (email with login information will be sent two weeks prior to class date).
  • Print your certificate of exam completion to bring to your class, or email it to nrp@ohsu.edu.

Can people outside OHSU take the class? 

Yes.

How much does the class cost?

Class fee information is located under 'Fees & Registration' on the website.

Will I receive confirmation?

After registration is received you will be notified electronically that your registration has been received and your class time and location. Two weeks prior to your class date, you will receive an email with your login information and directions on taking the exam.

Where do I get a NRP 6th Edition book?

  • If you are part of MBU/DNCC/L&D, your Nurse Manager will have books available to loan out to you.
  • If you are an OHSU employee, the BICC online catalog offers an electronic version of the textbook.
  • If you are neither of the above, you will need to purchase a book from the OHSU book store located in the Student Center or Online.

Is my Pre-Requisite Online NRP Exam included in the registration costs?

Yes, Two weeks prior to your class date, you will receive an email with your login information and directions on taking the exam.

How long do you think it will take me to study before I take my Pre-Requisite Online NRP Exam?

Each student is different. If you are unsure, please make sure to allow yourself ample time to study and take the exam.

Can I complete the Pre-Requisite Online NRP Exam after taking the class?

No, the Pre-Requisite Online NRP Exam is required before taking the hand-on class.

What do I do if I fail my test?

Please contact us at nrp@ohsu.edu as soon as you know you have failed the exam. We can assign you a new test for a fee of $14 until 3pm the business day prior to your class. If there is not enough time to reassign your test prior to your class date, contact us at nrp@ohsu.edu to inform us of this and print out your results to bring to your class. The instructor may still be able to allow you to take the course that day.

Why does it say I need to wear scrubs?

This is a simulation based course and the goal is to have it be realistic as possible.

Where is my class located?

What if I missed my class?

Please contact nrp@ohsu.edu as soon as you know you will be unable to attend the class. You may either reschedule or cancel completely.

If I cancel, can I get a refund?

Due to class size limitations, registration fee is not refundable if cancellation is made less than 48 hours prior to class date.

When will I receive my NRP Card?

You will receive your card the day of the class.

What if I didn't receive my card or I lost it?

Please contact nrp@ohsu.edu if you are waiting for your card. The AAP does not issue replacement certification cards but will confirm your current certification status.

My card expired; can I still take the Simulation class?

Yes. A current card is no longer required to take the NRP Simulation Course. Each institution that requires NRP certification will develop its own renewal policy. At OHSU, your NRP card expires at the end of the month in which it was issued.
