The 2016 Henrietta Doltz Puhaty presentation will be held on Thursday, November 10 in the OHSU Auditorium, Portland campus.
Theresa Brown, RN, author of The Shift, will discuss Healing our Health Care System. Theresa received her BSN from the University of Pittsburgh, and during what she calls her past life, a PhD in English from the University of Chicago. Her column Bedside appeared on the New York Times op-ed page as well as on the Times blog Opinionator and she is a frequent contributor to the New York Times. Previously she wrote for the New York Times blog Well. Her writing has also appeared on CNN.com, and in The American Journal of Nursing and the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. She is an Advisory Board Member of the Center for Health Media and Policy at the Bellevue School of Nursing at Hunter College, and a participant in two different Robert Wood Johnson initiatives: Flip the Clinic and The Power of Narrative.

The 2016 Betsy LaSor Lecture will be held on Tuesday, November 15 in the Music Recital Hall on the campus of Southern Oregon University, 1250 Siskiyou Boulevard, Ashland, Oregon.
Peg Bowden, RN will discuss Reaching Across the Fence. Ms. Bowden is a retired public health nurse living on a ranch in the San Cayetano Mountains of southern Arizona. A self-described "desert rat", she practiced nursing in Oregon before returning to the Sonoran Desert to paint, practice the piano and pound on the timpani in a local concert band. The politics of the borderlands brought out a passion to record what she was seeing. Peg is the author of A Land of Hard Edges: Serving the Front Lines of the Border and writes a blog about the experience of a migrant called La Frontera: the border, which be accessed at www.arroya.org.
