Dwight Smith, MD
Dwight grew up a missionary kid in Nigeria, West Africa. After medical school, he practiced rural Family Medicine in Washington and Nevada. He was then drawn to teaching and taught in Tacoma, WA and Stockton CA, before he helped start the Alaska Family Medicine Residency Program. He spent 13 years teaching residents there before coming to Cascades East. His family, including 3 young children, was drawn to the rural farming atmosphere of Klamath Falls. In his spare time Dwight enjoys collecting rocks and minerals, nature photography, mountain biking, backpacking, cross country skiing, sea kayaking, river rafting or any other adventures in the wilderness.
Medically, Dr. Smith enjoys teaching procedures, wilderness medicine, obstetrics, emergency care, and rural/frontier medicine. He also appreciates the value of integrating spiritual care into his practice. He is an Advisory Faculty with ALSO. He has lectured internationally on rural health and obstetrics and ALSO.
