Kids Making Miracles
Kids Making Miracles (KMM) began as a simple coin drive in one area elementary school. Today, over 26 years later, hundreds of area K-12 students at schools throughout Oregon and southwest Washington have helped the KMM program raise more than $10 million for OHSU Doernbecher Children's Hospital. In the process students have learned valuable lessons about the importance of philanthropy, helping their community and being leaders in their schools.
Here are ways KMM makes a vital impact at Doernbecher:
Every dollar raised by KMM schools, whether that's funds directed towards developing new clinical services, funding innovative research programs or testing new treatments for serious childhood diseases, allows us to address immediate children's health care needs and take advantage of unanticipated opportunities.
KMM is helping OHSU Doernbecher Children's Hospital cure kids with cancer, mend broken hearts and bones, stop seizures, save the tiniest babies, and train the next generation of pediatric specialists.
How to Get Started
Gather a group of students and a school advisor. Work with your advisor and school leadership to plan your kick-off assemblies and fundraising events. The most important part of forming your Doernbecher club is to be inclusive and have fun! Get the whole school involved and ask for community support.
