Graduation is an exciting time in your educational career. Plan to avoid missing any deadlines or requirements. Graduation ceremonies will vary depending on your OHSU School of Nursing program location.

Please check your location-specific details below to ensure you receive the most accurate information. Online RN to B.S. students can read about their options in this RN to B.S. program detail section.

General information

Students can apply for degrees within the student information system. Students must apply to graduate through the student information system account. To do this, follow the steps below, or review this Quick Guide: How to Apply to Graduate Online.

  1. Log in to the Student Information System (SIS)
  2. Click the Student Services tab
  3. Click Student Records
  4. Click Apply to Graduate

Once we know it, the application's completion deadline will be listed here. If you apply for a degree after this deadline, your name may NOT get submitted into the official graduation program booklet in June.

Students can check in Students Services / Degree Works to see if their Application for Degree has been received and processed. When processed, the Application for Degree field will be checked off. For further questions, please contact OHSU's Registrar's office at 503-494-7800.

Information for ordering your regalia is found in the official Regalia Guide. The deadline is past due, but you can call in your order for your cap and gown. MN/D.N.P./Ph.D. graduates also order a hood. Do not hesitate to call! The local Herff Jones office is the best place to order your regalia at 360-254-7870.

Order your OHSU nursing pin at the Royal T/Herff Jones website.

Latin honors are Latin phrases used to indicate the level of academic distinction with which an academic degree is earned. Individual institutions delineate specific requirements that must be met to obtain these honors. Most institutions confer three levels of Latin honors:

  • Cum Laude "with honor/praise": 3.80 - 3.89
  • Magna Cum Laude "with great honor/praise": 3.90 - 3.99
  • Summa Cum Laude "with highest honor/praise": 4.0

Honor distinctions are bestowed upon Baccalaureate graduates at the OHSU School of Nursing. This honor is based on the cumulative grade point average for nursing courses at degree completion. Preliminary honors will be used for the June graduation ceremony, and is based on GPA as of the end of winter term. It is important to note that Accelerated Baccalaureate students are awarded honor cords at the time of program degree completion.

Graduating students sometimes have questions about the $60 Graduation Fee. That $60 is charged and applied to the OHSU Registrar’s Office. The OHSU Registrar’s Office uses the $60 for your application for degree processing, your diploma, etc. It does not apply to the School of Nursing, nor does the School of Nursing charge students for graduation activities in the associated fees. If you have any questions about your graduation application, records, or the fee – you should contact the OHSU Registrar's Office at 503-494-7800.
