Vascular – LabProctored practice of identifying vessels for ultrasound guided vascular access on human models. Phantom models will be used for actual needle placement, foreign body localization and abscess identification. |

Pelvic ultrasound – DidacticDiscussion of how transabdominal and transvaginal ultrasound can be used to identify and assess first trimester intrauterine pregnancy in situations of potential ectopic pregnancy and threatened miscarriage. |

Procedural ultrasound and miscellaneous – DidacticDiscussion of the use of ultrasound to guide various emergency department procedures such as pericardiocentesis, thoracentesis and paracentesis. Other miscellaneous uses of ultrasound such as guiding codes/cardiac, differentiating abscesses from cellulitis and identifying foreign bodies will also be covered. |
