  • Hometown: Olympia, WA
  • Medical School: Medical College of Wisconsin
  • Areas of Interest in Medicine: rural emergency medicine, disaster medicine, emergency medical services, ultrasound
  • Outside Interests: Writing short stories/essays. Photography (nature scenes, anything with mountains and/or water). Piano: classical and choir. Walking and jogging. Kayaking. Baking. Hanging out with my family.
  • Favorite Job before residency: working as a telemetry nurse in Olympia WA. It was my first real job out of high school and my first exposure to health care and medicine. I learned to love all things cardiac. I had incredible mentors in my coworkers and the physicians I worked with who encouraged and supported me in my educational goals.
  • What did you want to be when you were little: as long as I could remember, I've wanted to become an emergency medicine physician (except for a 3 month period of time when I was 13 I wanted to become a sign language interpreter).
  • Favorite Smell: Homemade cinnamon rolls.
  • Favorite TV show of all time: NCIS
  • Favorite Music: Anything by the Mormon Tabernacle Choir
  • Why I picked OHSU: I'm from the Pacific Northwest (Banks OR and Olympia WA). I've grown up around mountains, water, trees, and rain. I'm from a big family and almost all of my siblings live in the Northwest. I thoroughly enjoyed spending 4 years in the Midwest, but I'm ready to come back home. When I interviewed at OHSU for a residency position, I fell in love with the campus and the location. The faculty and residents and staff I met were so friendly and approachable, I knew OHSU would be a perfect place for me to do my residency training.

  • Why I picked OHSU: Combination of many factors including the faculty and residents that I met and interacted with, quality of hospital and facilities, and location in a beautiful part of the country. The number one reason is the overall feel and impression I got when interviewing there.
