CHSE's Peter Graven presents workforce modeling project to AAMC

05/01/14  Portland, Ore.

Project modeled demand for primary-care workers in Oregon for 2013-2020

CHSE's modeling skills were on show at the Association of American Medical Colleges' 2014 Health Workforce Research Conference, where economist Peter Graven shared a study on Oregon health care workforce projections with a panel on "New Workforce Methods and Models."

CHSE's model was produced in collaboration with the Oregon Healthcare Workforce Institute and the Oregon Health Authority to predict Oregon's need for primary health care providers between 2013 and 2020. In addition to statewide projections, Graven used geographical data on providers and patients to predict regional variations within the state.

The theme for the conference, May 1-2 in Washington, DC, was "Finding the Right Fit: The Workforce Needed to Support the ACA."
