Residency Application Process

The Urology Residency Training Program participates in both the AUA (American Urological Association) and ERAS (Electronic Residency Application Service) Residency Matching Programs.  Applicants must register with both the AUA and ERAS websites.  No paper applications will be accepted. Only complete applications submitted through the ERAS system will be reviewed for positions beginning at the PGY-1 level the following academic year. Please contact your school’s Dean's office for additional information regarding the ERAS electronic application process. Please visit the SAU website for up-to-date interview and match process information

All applications submitted are reviewed in October and invitations to interview with the Residency Training Program will be sent out on 10/10/27/23.  Responses from students will be due on 10/30/23.  Interview dates this year are Tuesday, 11/14/23 and Thursday, 11/16/23.  If you are invited to interview, you will be contacted by e-mail.  All interview will be virtual. During your interviews, you will meet with the urology faculty and residents.

A complete ERAS application consists of the following elements:

• Application
• CV
• Your photograph
• Personal statement
• Dean's letter and medical school transcript
• Three letters of recommendation
• Official USMLE scores, Part I & Part 2 or National Board scores, Part I & Part 2

If you have had previous postgraduate training, please send letters of recommendation from the program director(s) of your first postgraduate year program and any subsequent residency training.

Graduates of foreign medical schools who apply to U.S. residency programs must have a valid ECFMG certificate.  The Education Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates had a very informative and helpful website, http://www.ecfmg.org.  Those who are not U.S. citizens must be able to meet the current requirements for a United States visa. If accepted into the program, an H-1 visa will be arranged for you, for the length of the training program, by the OHSU Office of Graduate Medical Education. For answers to procedural questions specific to the ECFMG, students and graduates of non-LCME accredited medical schools, please visit the ERAS for International Medical Student Graduates Applicants website.
